Workforce Training Facility Nears Final Stages

When Scott Jonkhoff began renovating his building on S. Division in Grand Rapids for apartments, he discovered a world of hurt. In the neighborhood, there were many folks without jobs, homes, or hope. What began with offering work on the renovation project, has transformed into Next Step, a workforce training program, connected to Mel Trotter Ministries.
Current programs include woodworking and light manufacturing, but they are out of space at their current facility on Garden Ave. Wolverine Building Group’s design-build team conceived an expanded space to add new training programs, including fabrication. Currently, the building’s anticipated completion is slated for December.
