Construction Begins on Park to Honor Fred Meijer

Grand Rapids, MI – (May 21, 2012) Wolverine Building Group and the West Michigan Trails and Greenways Coalition are pleased to announce that construction is starting on the Fred Meijer Trail Park along the Pioneer Trail.

WMTGC (West Michigan Trails and Greenways Coalition), is funding the project, a small trail park to honor the West Michigan businessman, who was a major contributor to and supporter of the WMTGC. Wolverine Building Group is donating time and labor to oversee the project.

The Pioneer Trail goes from Muskegon to Comstock Park. The new Fred Meijer Trail Park will be located in front of the Meijer corporate headquarters, at the intersection of Three Mile and Walker. The park will feature new landscaping, a bike loop, and a seating area with benches contributed by the Frederik Meijer Gardens.

For $100, community members can support the project by purchase a brick that will pave the park’s walkway. Bricks will be engraved with a custom message chosen by the donor.

The park is scheduled for completion on July 13.
