Wolverine Building Group Project Receives Historic Preservation Award
Traverse City, MI – (May 21, 2014) Wolverine Building Group is pleased to announce that Cottage 36, a historical restoration project completed in late 2012, has received a Tax Credit Award from the Michigan Historic Preservation Network.
Owner LC Companies contracted general contractor Wolverine Building Group and architect Concept Design Studio for the extensive renovation of the 32,000 sq. ft., four-story building. Originally serving as a residence hall for workers at the hospital, Cottage 36 was renovated into 29 high quality affordable housing units. The living spaces feature modern, energy-efficient amenities with high-end and historically accurate finishes including refinished plaster and exposed brick walls, and custom wood trim and doors.
The MHPN Tax Credit Award is awarded to “an outstanding building preservation project” that “must include qualified use of federal and/or state tax credit programs.” The Cottage 36 project utilized Michigan State Historic Tax Credits and MSHDA Low Income Housing Tax Credits.
