Wolverine Update

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Wolverine Building Group is partnering with Trinity Health Saint Mary’s Lacks Cancer Center to bring awareness and raise funds to benefit men’s health. During the month of September, Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, the nearly 200-member team will be equipped with knowledge, prevention tips and screening information.

Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men. About 1 man in 8 will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during his lifetime. During this partnership with Trinity Health Saint Mary’s, Wolverine hopes to decrease stigma and increase connection to wellness. Through segments in the weekly employee newsletter, social media posts, informative sessions at the all-company meeting and opportunities to get involved, the leadership will transform how philanthropic efforts will connect to employees as well as the wider community.

“We want to start the conversation with our team,” stated co-owner and President, Curt Mulder. “Prostate cancer is treatable if detected early, but often there are no noticeable symptoms. It begins with encouraging wellness, regular doctors visits and increasing understanding.”

Following September’s information efforts, personal impact stories of how Prostate Cancer has affected Wolverine Building Group’s employees and their families will be shared in the month of October. The effort will be culminated with “No-Shave November,” where employees may join the awareness campaign by neglecting their razors, getting active, participating in annual doctor’s visits and investing in Saint Mary’s Foundation’s efforts to increase men’s health.

All may join the effort by donating:
