BYRON TOWNSHIP – A large parcel of land occupying area in the southeast corner of the intersection of 64th Street and Byron Center Avenue is one step closer to being developed for mixed use after being rezoned by the Township Board at a recent meeting.

Minus Township Treasurer Carol Houseman and Trustee Drew Jones, who were both absent, board members voted to approve a rezoning request for the 24.6-acre parcel located at 6420 Byron Center Ave. SW, rezoning the property to an O-S Office Service District, at their meeting on Monday, Jan. 8.

Wolverine Building Group, on behalf of Chicago Diversified Foods, applied for the property’s rezoning, township documents show, in the hopes of ultimately rezoning the parcel to a Mixed-Use Planned Unit Development, or MU-PUD.
