Vic Village North

Project Overview

Wolverine Building Group constructed the Vic Village North in downtown Ann Arbor, Michigan.

The project involved the new construction of a 135,000-square-foot, 12-story mixed-use building right next to the University of Michigan central campus. The first floor houses four commercial retail suites while the second through twelfth floors house 80 luxury student housing units. The units feature designer kitchens with tile backsplash, granite/ quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, hardwood-style flooring, carpeted bedrooms, and in-unit washers and dryers. Select units also have private bedrooms, bathrooms, and attached balconies that overlook the University of Michigan Stadium.

The project posed numerous logistical challenges to the project team given its urban environment – Crews had to give special care to three adjacent buildings and thousands of pedestrians traveling to class every day. Getting materials up and down the 12-story building also proved challenging. In addition, the building’s exterior was unique in that 95% of the facade was comprised of hand laid brick and cast stone.
