Non-Profit Converts Unfulfilled Warehouse Space to Cross-Cultural Welcome Center
Project Overview
Wolverine Building Group did a major renovation to create a new office and gathering space for Treetops Collective, a Grand Rapids-based nonprofit organization that helps refugee women find community in West Michigan.
The project consisted of a complete interior demolition and rebuild of a 5,130 sq. ft. space that used to house a warehouse. Wolverine’s team stripped it down to the studs and added all new flooring, walls, and interior finishes. The completed space includes offices, a conference room, and shared workspaces that will be utilized by other local nonprofits.
A challenging aspect of this renovation was converting a former warehouse to serve a new purpose. Extensive work was required to create an event space for Treetops, including reconfiguring a sloped garage floor into a flat floor to accommodate gatherings. Our team also had to rework the ceilings in order to bring the building up to code. The resulting space was completed on time and on budget, and Treetops Collective is thrilled with the finished product.
