MEIJER PHARMACY BUILDOUT INSIDE BUTTERWORTH HOSPITAL

Project Overview

Wolverine Building Group performed the buildout of a Meijer Pharmacy inside Spectrum Health’s Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

The project involved the installation of new walls and partitions, plumbing, HVAC, and electrical to support the 2,500-square-foot full-service pharmacy. The store includes a pharmacy counter, waiting area, consultation room, sales area, server room, office, and general work area. The pharmacy provides a convenient one-stop location for patients, employees, and individuals who live and work downtown to fill prescriptions.

The project was challenging due to its location within the hospital. Located on the first floor, just off of the lobby, hundreds of employees, patients, and visitors passed the area every day. This required fire walls and extreme infection control procedures to be used. The project also required the cutting of holes into the existing precast walls to create doorframes which are now part of the interior space. In addition, Meijer’s vendors for security, cameras, low voltage, and fiber internet were all different than the hospitals vendors which required more planning and coordination.
