Historic downtown Grand Rapids building undergoes major remodel

Project Overview

Wolverine Building Group performed a complete remodel of the Smith Haughey Rice and Roegge office located in the historic Flat Iron Building in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan. Originally constructed in 1860, the building is the second oldest in the city.

The 26,600-square-foot project involved the renovation of three floors to create a blend of open and private office spaces. Interior glass was incorporated to allow natural light into the office and many of the building’s historic features were preserved. All work was performed in accordance with LEED building standards.

This project received the Associated Builders and Contractors Western Michigan Chapter (ABC/WMC) Excellence in Construction Award for Historical Renovation.
