Two Story Addition for Fast Growing School
Project Overview
This fast-growing school needed a two-story, four classroom addition to keep up with its rapid growth. The expansion included classrooms for pre-kindergarten through eighth grade, as well as restrooms and storage space to accommodate the additional students.
The school leaders are proud of the diverse student population, aiming to nurture curiosity and a global perspective. The school has seen tremendous success because of the passion of the teachers, the students and their families and the sense of belonging as a school community in an interconnected world.
While testing systems within the school to prepare for reopening, the Wolverine team discovered that the fire suppression system was not functioning properly. The pressurized systems were not receiving enough energy to operate. Our team worked with the city of Hamtramck, architects and the original fire protection company to discover the issues and properly supply water to the system. Solutions included rerouting the fire suppression systems in the gymnasium, avoiding the most difficult climb of the 40 foot peak of the massive space, to increase energy efficiency and ensure appropriate delivery.
