Construction begins on downtown Okemos project

Summer construction is in full swing in the downtown Okemos area. It’s part of the preparation work for the Village of Okemos Redevelopment Project.
The Wolverine Building Group is taking the steps to make sure the soil and water are free of toxic chemicals. In order to get the contaminated soil out, they have to dig it up.
“In preparation for the big dig for the mass excavation is were driving sheet piling behind me which essentially supports the road for us to do excavation right beyond the edge of the road limits,” said Randy Baker, the director of construction
